"Women Stand Up! A Comedy Cabaret" is a new hit regular series at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theater--a smorgasbord of comedy styles from the Twin Cities' top female comedians. The mission of the show is to promote women in comedy and, of course, to make folks laugh!
Performers: Linda Bieza, Marianna Caldwell, Carolyn Cesario, Ali Fitzpatrick, Katie Knutson, Miss Shannan Paul
Performers run the gamut in experience and disciplines within the umbrella of comedy, including: stand-up comedians, singers, sketch comics, slam poets and storytellers. Each show is unique and features different comedians.

Maxine Jeffris, Allegra Lingo, Shanan Wexler, Mary Mack, Roxanne Tarrant, Diana B. Wilde, Nancy Donoval, Elizabeth Hawes, Janelle Ranek, Holly Davis, Tammy Nerby and Allison Broeren.

Seal's festival at the end of May - Spirit in the House - by offering its monthly venue spot to a showcase curated by Kay Kirscht. Northstar will be performing in this festival. Coffee and dessert at 6:30 p.m. Featured tellers begin downstairs at 7:00. Open mike at 8:15. Suggested Donation $5.00. Seating is Limited - Come Early!!!!

Jim Stowell is an iconic Twin Cities' storyteller and performer, larger than life, with stories that careen from the personal to the political and back again. Jasmin Cardenas is a bi-lingual Latina storyteller who shares with Jim a childhood growing up between languages and cultures with a rapper's sensibility for reporting what was and what should have been of race, class and sex. $10 at the door. $8 students, seniors, TCT season Ticket holders (pay for 5, get the 6th free).
Two Chairs Telling first appeared at the Jungle Theater from 1992-1998 and brought together some truly outstanding pairings of storytellers, several for their first time onstage, including - Michal Cotter and Colleen Kruse, Kevin Kling and Angela Lloyd, Joe and Michelle DeLoreme, Lenny Majors and Dorothy Cleveland, Antonio Sacre and Jim Stowell. Loren Niemi serves as both curator and host for this six presentations in 2008 series. This activity is made possible, in part, by funds provided by the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council from an appropriation by the Minnesota legislature.

Spirit in the House Performing Arts Festival
Spirit in the House is pleased to announce its annual 10-day performing arts festival running from May 23 to June 1. The festival brings together 30 different shows, for a total of 150 performances, tackling a variety of ethical issues and celebrating a diverse cross-section of spiritual traditions. Spirit in the House is dedicated to exploring questions of inner life and outward action through theater, film, dance, drumming, music, spoken word, poetry, and storytelling.
Participating groups include Mixed Blood Theater, Nautilus Theater, and Ragamala Dance Company; nationally-known storytellers such as Kevin Kling, Jim Stowell and Nancy Donoval; Larry Yazzie’s Native American drum group, Northstar Storytelling League, playwrights Elizabeth O’Sullivan, Holly Davis, plus many more. The farther you get into the line up, the more excited you will be!
The Spirit in the House Festival is being hosted by Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church located at the intersection of Lyndale and Groveland in Minneapolis - across from the Walker Arts Center. Parking is ample and refreshments will be available for purchase between shows. Tickets may be purchased singly, as a five-show discount punch card or an all access pass.
